Why You Shouldn’t Compare Yourself to Others
It is pointless to compare yourself to others. We are all different.
Different genetics, different IQ, different body structure, different strengths and weaknesses, and different character traits.
You can make the most of your strengths, but if you focus on your weaknesses you will not get very far.
Weaknesses are just strengths in the wrong environment.
One of my favorite quotes is “If you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life thinking it's stupid.”
I think Bruce Lee is the baddest dude ever when it comes to martial arts. He would not win a basketball game against the pros though.
Usain Bolt can run the fastest, but he would not beat the long distance guys in a 10K run.
Usually people who can deadlift a lot of weight, have long arms. Long arms make it difficult to bench press a lot of weight. Shorter arms allow for more plates on the bench press, because they allow you to lift the weight for a shorter distance. They will hinder you in the deadlift though, because you need to lift the bar higher than guys whose arms hang lower.
I never had a super strong bench press, or huge arms, but that’s partly because I am tall. My deadlift and squat are pretty decent though.
This doesn't mean you should neglect or ignore your weaknesses. Work on them too.
Know yourself. Become great at what you were meant to be great at.
